Kitchen Plumbing and Installation
Kitchen plumbing and installation
Sinks, taps, appliances, boiler relocations and pipework alterations, timed to fit around the rest of the kitchen programme.
Kitchen plumbing is nearly always about timing. The pipework has to be moved before the units go in, the appliances have to be connected after the worktop is on, and if either of those slips the whole programme slips with it.
We are used to working alongside kitchen fitters and we work to their schedule rather than asking them to work around ours. If you are project-managing it yourself, we will tell you exactly which day we need to be in and what has to be finished before we arrive.
If the kitchen also involves moving a boiler, that is a gas job and it needs planning early, because the flue position and the condensate run usually dictate where the boiler can actually go.
What’s included

- Isolation valves fitted to every appliance and outlet
- Pressure and leak testing before the units are boxed in
What this covers
Everything that falls under kitchens
-
Full kitchen plumbing
First and second fix coordinated with your kitchen fitter from strip-out to final connection.
-
Sinks and taps
Including boiling water taps, filtered taps and undermount sinks that need the pipework setting out before the worktop is templated.
-
Appliance connections
Washing machines, dishwashers and American fridges, each on its own isolation valve so a future swap is a five-minute job.
-
Boiler relocation
Moving a boiler out of a kitchen unit or into a utility. Flue route and condensate fall have to be resolved before the units are ordered.
-
Gas hob connection
Gas Safe connection and testing for new hobs, including converting from electric where a supply can be run.
-
Heating alterations
Removing or relocating a radiator to free wall space, with plinth heaters or underfloor as the alternative.

Kitchens questions
What people ask about kitchens
Twice. First fix goes in after the old kitchen is out and before the new units are placed, and second fix happens once the worktop is on and the appliances are in position. Most kitchens need us for a day at each stage, though bigger layout changes take longer at first fix.
Usually yes, but decide early. The flue has to terminate somewhere permitted and the condensate has to run downhill to a drain, and those two constraints often rule out the cupboard the designer has drawn it into. We will survey it before the kitchen is ordered rather than after.
Yes. They need a mains supply, a dedicated switched fused spur under the sink for the tank, and enough cupboard space for the unit itself, which is bigger than people expect. Worth checking the incoming mains pressure too, as some models specify a minimum.
Routinely. Give us their contact details and their programme and we will coordinate directly rather than putting you in the middle of it.
If there is a gas supply in the property and a run can be made to the hob position, yes. It needs a Gas Safe engineer to install and test it, and the run has to be sized correctly so the hob and the boiler are not competing for supply.
