General Plumbing and Leak Repair

General plumbing, leaksand emergency repairs

Burst pipes, dripping taps, running toilets and leak detection, resolved without tearing your house apart.

Our work

Most plumbing calls are small jobs that have become urgent. A tap that has dripped for a year and has now seized, a toilet that has been running quietly into the pan and has doubled the water bill, or a leak under the floor that has finally shown itself on the ceiling below.

The part of this work that matters is the finding, not the fixing. Anyone can change a section of pipe. Locating a leak under a solid floor without opening up half the room takes acoustic and thermal equipment and the experience to interpret what it is telling you.

We turn up with the common parts already on the van, so most small jobs are a single visit rather than a diagnosis followed by a return trip a week later.

What’s included

  • Leak detection using acoustic and thermal equipment before anything is opened up
  • Burst and frozen pipe repair, including lead pipe replacement
  • Tap, mixer and shower valve replacement
  • Toilet repairs: fill valves, flush valves, cisterns and full replacements
  • Waste, trap and soil pipe repairs, and blockage clearance
  • Outside taps, stopcock replacement and isolation valve fitting
  • Water pressure and flow rate problems
  • Washing machine, dishwasher and appliance plumbing

What this covers

Everything that falls under plumbing & leaks

  • Leak detection

Acoustic and thermal detection to pinpoint a leak under a floor or behind a wall before any tiles or floorboards come up.

  • Burst and frozen pipes

Emergency isolation, repair and reinstatement. Coastal properties and unheated lofts are the usual culprits in a cold snap.

  • Taps, showers and valves

Replacements and repairs, including thermostatic shower valves and concealed mixer units.

  • Toilets and cisterns

Running toilets, weak flushes, leaking pans and full replacements including concealed cistern units.

  • Blockages

Sinks, baths, showers and toilets, cleared mechanically rather than by pouring caustic chemicals down the pipe.

  • Pipework alterations

Re-routing, capping off and extending pipework for kitchen refits, extensions and appliance moves.

Plumbing & Leaks questions

What people ask about plumbing & leaks

For an active leak we prioritise the same day across the Lancing to Littlehampton corridor wherever we have capacity, and next working day across the wider patch. If water is actively coming through a ceiling, turn the stopcock off and call rather than emailing.

In most cases yes. Acoustic detection listens for the pressure escape and thermal imaging shows the temperature difference where water is tracking. It means we open up one small area over the actual leak rather than exploring several. Occasionally a leak under a screeded floor still needs a wider opening, but that is the exception.

Quotes for planned work are free and there is no charge for the visit. For repair work, the visit is chargeable because the diagnosis is the work. We tell you the rate before we come out, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

Usually. It is worth separating pressure from flow rate, because they are different problems with different fixes. It might be a partially closed stopcock, a failing pressure reducing valve, furred-up old pipework, or a shared supply. We test at the main first, which takes minutes and rules out most of the expensive possibilities.

Yes. Older properties around Worthing and Shoreham still have lead supply pipes and they are worth replacing when you find them, both for water quality and because they fail without warning. We replace lead with MDPE or copper and reinstate afterwards.
